December 2018
Weekend of 12/1 & 12/2
THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT
The Season of Advent is so easily lost in the preparations for the holidays. If we do not make the effort to observe it and to keep it then Advent is quickly replaced by the excitement and the anticipation of Christmas, snow, the ‘tree’, cookies and gifts. Yet the two things should beautifully and wonderfully collide. This is not a season of gloom and sadness—it is a Season of expectation, wonder, joy, and hope!
Advent is an opportunity to display the love that we have for our God and the love that we hold within our hearts for those who comprise our families, our friends, and our associates. It’s a time to reach out into the world and bring the warmth and love of the Season into the hearts of those who, in fact, might most need it.
Our Calendar will guide us through with suggestions and prayers. It’s up to you to add the depth and further meaning to what is here offered. I hope that you will find it somewhat helpful in your Advent Journey and that your prayers, mixed with all of our prayers, will bring Glory to our God
and Peace to our world and a renewal of hope! Have fun with the calendar (which can be found in our bulletin and on our Facebook page)—add your own thoughts and ideas—join us in these brief weeks of prayerful anticipation for what has been called ‘the most wonderful time of the year’!
